Candidate FAQ

Your department controls assessment requirements, standards, results, retake rules, accommodations, and next steps. When department instructions differ from this general guidance, follow your department's instructions.

Before the assessment

Invitation, access, and preparation

What is MedicReady?

MedicReady is the system your department may use to administer and record its EMS or paramedic assessment.

Why did I receive an invitation?

The administering department assigned you an assessment. Contact that department for questions about eligibility or why you were invited.

Where do I enter my access code?

Use the MedicReady Candidate Access Code page and enter the code issued by your department.

Do I need an account?

Follow the invitation you received. Some department workflows use an access code, while other account steps may be required for specific candidate records.

What equipment do I need?

Review your invitation. A desktop or laptop, stable internet connection, and working camera, microphone, and speakers may be required depending on the assessment.

Can I use a phone or tablet?

This depends on the rules established by your department. Review your invitation and assessment instructions.

How do I request an accommodation?

Contact the administering department before the assessment. MedicReady does not decide accommodation eligibility.

Can I practice?

Use only practice or orientation material authorized by your department. Practice content should not be assumed to match the real assessment.

During the assessment

Timing, recording, and department rules

Is the assessment timed?

This depends on the rules established by your department. Review your invitation and assessment instructions.

Can I pause, leave the room, or return to an earlier question?

This depends on the department's rules and the configured module. Follow the instructions displayed during your assessment.

May I use notes, protocols, a calculator, or another device?

Only use materials and devices specifically permitted by the administering department.

Is my camera or microphone recorded?

It may be, depending on the assessment configuration. Review the notice and consent information shown before you begin.

Can another person be in the room?

Follow your department's room and assistance rules. If someone enters unexpectedly, follow the on-screen instructions and notify the designated support contact if needed.

What if my internet connection fails or an image does not load?

Use the department support contact and follow any on-screen recovery instructions. Do not assume an incomplete screen means your assessment was submitted.

Will the patient react to treatment?

Do not assume a scenario changes dynamically. State your assessment and treatment approach and request available findings as instructed.

How do I provide the hospital handoff?

Follow the prompt in your assigned assessment and provide the requested handoff in the configured response format.

After the assessment

Submission, results, and next steps

How do I know it was submitted?

Wait for the on-screen submission confirmation. If you do not see confirmation, use the support instructions provided by your department.

Can I change an answer after submission?

Do not assume changes are allowed after submission. Contact the administering department if you believe a technical issue affected an answer.

When will I receive results?

The administering department controls the review timeline and candidate communication.

Will MedicReady tell me whether I passed?

MedicReady records the assessment. The department determines and communicates results.

Can MedicReady explain my score?

Questions about ratings, criteria, or results must be directed to the administering department.

Can I request review, appeal, or a retake?

The department determines review, appeal, and retake rules. Follow the process described in your department instructions.

Who determines whether I advance?

The administering department determines advancement, hiring, promotion, clearance, and other outcomes.

MedicReady administers and records the assessment. The department determines results, advancement, retake eligibility, appeals, and employment or clinical decisions.
